The CfP Standard covers crops that are used to produce raw material for frozen products, juice, precooked meals and animal feed, among other types of processing. With the exception of two differences: the risk-based approach to food safety and control rules, these crops will be held to the same standards as IFA crops.
As the food safety risk assessment at the farm level varies depending on the product intended for processing, the CfP Standard treats farm-level risk assessment differently.
Unlike other standards, CfP is a non-accredited standard. Producers are either required to conduct self-assessments (Option 1), internal QMS audits and inspections (Option 2), or receive inspections/audits from approved certification bodies.
Farm Operations Overview questionnaires will be required for self-assessments and third-party assessments. To become part of the revised CfP Standard, producers must provide information about their processors. This form forms part of the CfP checklist and includes questions regarding producer and processor responsibilities.
