In principle, agricultural practice is not just about produce. It is also about people. GRASP stands for GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment of Social Practice. A social practice assessment module can be used in conjunction with a GLOBALG.A.P. inspection for specific aspects of worker health, safety and welfare. The assessment results are uploaded to the GLOBALG.A.P. Database, which indicates how compliant the farm is. A GRASP assessment lasts for one year and is conducted every year. Results are visible to supply chain partners and buyers who have access rights.
As a result of GRASP, farmers are able to establish a social management system on their farms. This provides buyers with added assurance. And it allows the farm to protect its most valuable resource: its people.
